We're the CO creators of creative soul weekend retreat in Nova Scotia, Canada, which is a small intimate gathering for creative women to recharge and get some beach therapy. We just wrapped up our second annual weekend and met up today to start planning next year's event. And we'd love to ask you both for your thoughts on collaborating with a friend. We've been following being boss get started and are so inspired by how well you to work together, playing off each other's strengths and balancing each other out. So we're curious, what have you both learned about co owning a project or business with a friend? What are some pitfalls to avoid? And what are the advantages of teaming up instead of going it alone? You know, we're always talking about the magic that happens when you get bosses in person together. So I think that is awesome that you guys are doing that. But yeah, let's talk about collaborating, and kind of CO owning a project or a business with a friend, Emily.

Let's do it. Um, so I think some of the things that I've learned or i think that i think partnering up definitely has made me a better business person in terms of like, I have to know when and how to delegate. And I have to know how to Super define roles. And I have to know how to very clearly communicate. Because those are, those are three of the things that I think like, are mandatory, whenever you are partnering up with someone to do things, you have to be able to share the workload, you have to know what your workload is, so that you're not stepping on toes, and you have to be able to talk about everything. And I think that those are probably the three biggest things that I've taken away from partnering up and knowing how to use those skills efficiently and effectively, are definitely definitely lends to us being able to make this work.

Yeah. So partnering up is tricky, because I don't know if you were like this in college, Emily, whenever it comes to doing group work or partner work, I was always like, No, thank you. I will Yeah, by myself, because I was just always all about really relying on myself, and having complete creative control. And so partnering up through partnering up both with you and with my sister and working with lots of different people on different projects. I have learned, even though you might be able to get it done faster and your way on your own, that you can create something bigger and better whenever you are working or collaborating with someone else. So whenever you're first starting to partner up with someone, I think it's really important to understand what your goals are and making sure that your goals are aligned. So whenever Emily and I started the podcast, our goal was simply to have fun on a podcast and as our goals have shifted along the way to make this a business to make money to whether or not we're working with sponsors. As our goals change, we had to be really good Clear and make sure that we were still on the same path towards reaching those goals together. So that's really super important. And along with shared goals, it's so important to talk about money. How much money do you want to make? How are you going to split it? How much is how much do you expect of each other. And I think this is whenever it's really great to work with a lawyer and go through an operating agreement. And this might not be something that you do whenever you're just doing a shared project together. But certainly, as soon as enough money gets involved, as soon as you're opening a shared bank account, it might be a good idea to get a lawyer involved just to have someone to help facilitate that conversation, and to bring up all the different points that you might not be thinking about. So yeah, and we share a whole lot more information in those three episodes about what we've learned, working together on a project, some pitfalls to avoid, I think are making assumptions about what's going right and what's going wrong. It's so important just to say it out loud, no matter what you're thinking, and the advantages of teaming up or just that, for me more than anything, just having someone that has my back and being able to brainstorm with someone else. And you can get that from a business bestie relationship where you're not necessarily working on a project together, but getting together and talking about your projects, just so that you have someone to brainstorm with.
