This minisode is brought to you by our sponsor fresh books cloud accounting. Fresh books is the easy to use invoicing software designed to help creative entrepreneurs get organized, save time invoicing, and get paid faster. One of the great freshbooks features I want to talk about today is time tracking. So, a lot of creative entrepreneur entrepreneurs struggle between flat billing or billing by hour. And sometimes it's good even if you do flat billing to track your time, so that you can just know how much time you're spending on a project, regardless of how you're billing. So freshbooks allows features like recording billable hours, team time tracking, so multiple team members can log time by project, you can track time with multiple rates. So for example, if you have a virtual assistant, they can track their time at their rate, whereas you might be tracking your time at a different rate. And you can also monitor team progress, know how and where time is spent. This is crucial as you grow your team. Stay on top of your business with a clear picture of its financial health. Okay, so in today's minisode, I want to chat about the fear of judgment. When it comes to being a successful creative entrepreneur, you have to put yourself out there whether you like it or not. And to have a big impact for your tribe, you have to have a real pointy point of view. Now the thing about sharing your expertise, your beliefs, and sharing who you are, is that it leaves you open and vulnerable to being judged by others. And that can be scary. So I want to share today a few tips for dealing with judgment. One, if you're afraid of what everybody will think then get specific about exactly who everybody is. When I do this with my coaching clients, they think I'm joking, whenever I tell them to name names. They'll say, Well, I can't name anyone specific. Okay, if you're afraid of everybody and you can't name one name, then that means that you're afraid of the equivalent of the boogeyman. Now, if you can name names and pinpoint whose reaction you're afraid of dig in, why are you worried about what that person thinks of you anyway? Does it really matter? More often than not, your fears are unfounded, and you're projecting your own insecurities on everybody else. It's not fair to you or them.

Now, my second tip is one for creatives who are dealing with actual judgment from friends, family and haters alike. One of my own clients who's an author and lifestyle coach once told me that whenever someone judges you, it's as if they're saying, grass is hot pink, they're confronting your truth with something that is so obviously not true to you. So the statement the grass is hot pink is such a silly statement that you can just laugh it off. It's like, okay, right, whatever. You can't even get mad about it. Because it's just so ridiculous. It's not worth your energy. So how that relates in real life, like let's, for example, say that someone told me that my voice sucks, and I should never podcast again. Okay, whatever. Or maybe you're in the magazine business, and someone tells you print is dead. Okay, sure. Be confident enough in your own truth and just brush off anything that doesn't serve that truth. And finally, my last tip for dealing with judgment is a trick that I learned from Byron Katie way of Martha Beck. And that is to find proof for when the opposite is true. So let's go back to this scenario, that maybe you're wanting to make a magazine and someone tells you print is dead, you might not be able to laugh it off, because a part of that statement might actually feel true to you. And that can shake you up a little bit. So try this, flip the statement by saying the exact opposite words. So if the statement is print is dead, the opposite would be print is alive, and then come up with three pieces of evidence that support that truth. So for example, print is alive because I just bought a kinfolk the other day, or print is alive because ultimately people want something to hold in their hands. Print is alive because a love note in the mail feels so much better than a text. Now this is a great way for finding truth in something that you're feeling not so confident in.
