today's minisode is all about time management. We don't have a specific question today. So if you guys do have questions, hit us up at Hello at being boss club, and we'll answer them on our minisodes. But one of the things in general that we get asked about all the time is time management. How do you have time to work out? How do you have time to work on your side hustle? How do you have time to do anything? So let's chat about I guess maybe just our number one tips for time management. Emily, what's yours?
Emily Thompson 1:43
When it's mindset reframe, I always have to think that like Beyonce has 24 hours in her day to a man, right? I feel like so often entrepreneurs can get in this like really busy mindset where they think, oh, I don't have time to do all the things you do. And I think one is that reframe of mindset, where you just realize that you do have enough time like Beyonce, Obama, like, all of these really big people who are doing really big things have the same amount of time in their day as well. So number one, change that mindset. And number two, prioritize. I think that if you get whenever you are mindfully aligning your priorities up, and tackling them, in turn, you will get done everything that you want to get done.
Kathleen Shannon 2:31
drop the mic. Right. Okay, so I have two things. One, I'm trying to decide which I start with the more conceptual or the more tactical.
Emily Thompson 2:44
Go conceptual,
Kathleen Shannon 2:46
okay, conceptual. Time is flexible, like you can bend and stretch time, I know this sounds really weird.
Emily Thompson 2:55
Just go keep going.
Kathleen Shannon 2:57
But I truly it's kind of what you were saying about mindset. And whenever I tell myself, I do have time for this, I can get a lot of stuff done in 15 minutes. But then that also comes with exactly on the heels of what you were saying as far as prioritizing. So here is tactically how that works. set up something like a project management software, either Basecamp or Asana or whatever it is that you need to do to keep track of your projects, and task out what you need to be doing. So I find a lot of creative entrepreneurs say I don't have time to start this project. You do because I think what seems overwhelming and what makes you think that you don't have time is because you're thinking about the project as a whole. You're not thinking about all the little tasks that go into that project that you do, in fact, have 15 minutes here and therefore. So if you know what you're doing, you don't waste all your time figuring out what you have to do next. So I think that's huge whenever it comes to time management. And then one more thing because I always have to mention it. And Emily, you know, I suck at tracking my time. And

I know
Kathleen Shannon 4:09
you even challenged me on our website, beingboss.club, we now have a blog if you guys haven't checked it out with all new content, all original content, nothing we've really talked about here. Anyway, Emily challenged me to start tracking my time and I just suck at it. But here's what I am really good at is scheduling everything I put everything I want to do and everything I need to do, either in my Asana calendar, or in my Google Calendar. And if I didn't complete a task in a day, then I'm moving it to the next day. This even includes my workouts. So for example, I was sick earlier this week, and you can kind of still hear it in my voice. I'm

sure he sounds naughty.
Kathleen Shannon 4:52
I know. I know. I'm sorry. It's so gross, you guys, but I'm moving my workout like I moved it from my Thursday. workout to Friday, because I'm feeling good enough today to work out. So if you didn't get it done, move it to a later date. So it's in your schedule. And then you can start to see when you're overbooking yourself. And you can see when you have time for something, and whenever you don't have time for something, it's truly as simple as that. Also, something else

I want to throw in here as like a really good time management because I feel like a lot of people don't really think about how much time they spend doing this is take all the fun apps off of your phone. Bam, because really like, whenever, actually, whenever I whenever it was really time for me to step it up my business, I think it was about the time we started being Boss, I took most of the social media platforms off my phone, as well as all of the games. Like I have one game on my phone that I that I play, usually in bed at night when I'm just trying to like decompress. And I took like Facebook off my phone and Facebook Messenger and all of those doing that, for me was killer, for giving me back quite a bit of time in my life.
Kathleen Shannon 6:09
That is huge. And if you have a hard time taking everything off your phone, then I would recommend turning off your notifications on everything. So I turn off my Gmail notifications, so I don't get that little red number next to my Gmail on my phone. I don't have any push notifications to my phone, except for our clubhouse, because I just want to know what everyone in our clubhouse is talking about.
Emily Thompson 6:35
Yeah, I took off most of my notifications as well. And my phone is always on silent. Always.
Kathleen Shannon 6:44
Alright, so those are just a few ideas for how you can keep track of your time. And I mentioned the clubhouse In this episode, you can find that at being boss club slash clubhouse. And that's right. We don't have a.com we have a dot club because we party we party hard. So go to being boss club, and you'll find our blog and everything else there. But if you go to the clubhouse, you'll find ways that you can connect with other creatives and talk to them about how you will manage your time. And you can also get slack notifications to your phone. No, that's that can be a time suck, but it's it's a fun one. Anyway, thanks for listening to this minisode and we'll see you next week. This minisode was brought to you by 2020. Check them out at 20 twenty.com slash being boss. That's t w e n t y 20 as in the number.com slash being boss.
